Asthma - Clenil Modulite not working

Daughter has been on Clenil 100mg for a number years and is now 13. Asthma has been well controlled over the past few years after a number of asthma attacks as a younger child.
Recently, she's been getting breathless more often and having to use her blue inhaler much more. Often it's when she's not really doing anything active and other times it's when she's doing sport or something more active.
We upped the dose a few weeks ago so she's having 4 puffs a day but it's still not working.
Spoke with GP today who is going to ask asthma nurse to review and call me.

The question is, I think 4 is the max dose for a child so is there a stronger steroid inhaler they might give her? I'm just wondering how they'll manage it now.
I can't really think of any triggers as she's becoming breathless at different times and places with no real pattern.

Sorry your DD is struggling. I was the same as a child (and I'm the same now too)
Lots of years well controlled and then periods of time where things need to be adjusted.

There are lots of different ways to treat this. It could be new inhalers to try, some long acting bronciodiolators, a short course of steroids to settle things down. Tablets like Montelukast (though unsure if these are prescribed at her age)...

My point being that they absolutely will have so many ways they can go about getting it well managed for her again and as hard as it is - try not to worry too much. X

Thank you for the encouraging message Olivia. I do worry a lot when she's bad. I think she has been prescribed Montelukast in the past but not recently. I really hope they can sort her out as she's miserable atm because she feels restricted doing different things. She just went out in the garden this evening with her brother to play a quick game of football and got very breathless and had to come in and take quite a lot of blues to get it under control and I kept her inside.
She wants to go to a friend's house at the weekend for a sleepover and I really don't want her to go if her asthma is bad. 😑
