DD is going to Dr tomorrow. We had assumed that she was having aflare up of her excema but she is now covered in rash of spots. Started on legs but spread acroos her torso and back yesterday and now has half a dozen on her face.
they have not formed into blisters though. has anyone else had that? Could it possibly be something else?

Takes a few days ime for them to get heads

pagwatch · 24/02/2008 13:17

she has had the ones on her legs for three or four days - so i guess if we are going to get blisters they should start soon.
ah well. I will see what Dr makes of it tomorrow.

with mine they only had heads on some of the very first ones that appeared - the others didn't get heads. it was the blistery ones that scarred not the others. ds was a bit poorly and feverish, but dd sailed through fine

pagwatch, have just had a very similar experience with dd1 (4). We thought eczema flare up, but she's never had it like this - a rash of large-ish red spots all over her torso, and no blisters. They are starting to fade and go after two weeks - too long for chicken pox?? She was well, no fever throughout. Maybe bit whingey at the beginning, but then....!

Thanks all!

Elibean - sodding eczema really confuses things doesn't it.

Urticaria?

YeahBut · 24/02/2008 13:50

urticaria info

Elibean · 24/02/2008 13:51

Pagwatch, it does! dd usually has it behind knees and small patches on shoulderblades, or elbows, and more like rough area than a 'spot', IYKWIM.

Did wonder about urticaria, but it wasn't itchy (doesn't sound like pox either, eh?) and didn't look anything like the urticaria I had as a child, either.

Elibean · 24/02/2008 15:48

Is your dd itchy, P?

pagwatch · 24/02/2008 16:41

itchy? Yes very !
And she now has a temp. And whilst snuggling on the sofa quietly ( normally a leaping on the tramoline type of gal) has just wet herself. She was mortified, although I have reassured her that it is just because she is not quite herself. She hasn't had an accident, day or night, since she was two. Poor girl.
Now covered in calomine lotion and feeling very sorry for herself.
And dammit after all her illness last term at school she is going to miss the return after half term.
OK - I'm just grumbling now. Feel free to ignore me

So the Doctor had a look.
Called in another Doctor. He had a look.
"um" they said.
It could be chicken pox but no blisters.
It could be measles but def not typical measles.
So they decided on 'non-specific viral rash'.
.
Back to school at the end of the week if rash does not get worse but back to the Dr's if any worsening of symptoms.

I should have just stuck with what mumsnet said.....
