Toe nail fungus

Has anyone tried laser?

I know it's expensive, but if it's considered good, I think I'd prefer it to the oral anti-fungal tabs you need to be on for at least 3 month, that can damage your liver.

Any thoughts?

@FannyFifer - I will def look into this as don’t want to take pills currently as my system is quite delicate!!

I took the pills and have to say they are very strong.

Husband tried everything. Finally he tried TCP. Kept the bottle on the side of the bath to remind him and applied every night after his shower. Horrible smell but it worked.

My DH is using Vicks on his nails daily as well and they are almost back to pleasant looking nails.

Mine was growing out, painted it last summer when going on holiday, took the varnish off months later and the fungus had started again. I'm at the halfway point of growing out again and have resisted painting the nail. I'm a bit disturbed by people saying it comes back even looks like it's grown out. Just wish the bloody nail grew more quickly.

Has it cured them permanently?

Oh yes I’ve been down the nearly grown out the. Nail paint and it all came back - even ‘breathable’ nail polish did this.

amazon have laser toe gadgets £50-£90, they’re working for my toe but agree, takes ages to grow it out, and think once you are prone to it, you’re prone to it…

How does the laser work, does it go through the nail?

Yes it zaps it - I had this done in a salon for a lot more, a few years back and it didn’t do much but this one is daily for 7 mins and so far it’s half grown out - it’s definitely doing the job just takes sooooo long to regrow a nail.

I doubt I’ll ever be able to just plonk nail polish on and forget about it for days anymore though!

Advice I’ve had from podiatrists other than rotating shoes and letting your feet breathe is not to let your feet get wet where possible - possibly my liking for hot bubble baths hasn’t helped my toes!

Yes it has

People saying it comes back are probably just getting reinfected from their existing footwear, towels and flooring etc.

You can spray the inside of some shoes or air them in the sunshine (!) Wash towels used on feet at 60 degrees plus. Iron or tumble dry socks. I also dry my toes with a hairdryer on very low. Don't do this if you're diabetic.
