Noticed a little lump about 2 inches above her tummy button. Couldn't see it in morning but in evening when tummy fuller, you could see it. Feels just like normal muscle tissue but is bulging a bit (she's very skinny). Took her to the drs who said she thought it was slight weakness in the tummy muscles (prob gets that from me ... mine never came back together again after 2nd pregnancy) and it was a hernia but no need to do anything and it will more than likely right itself. There's now another lump just below it, slightly off centre.

Saw another dr the other day about something else and asked her to verify, mentioned the other smaller lump and she agreed. Got her to cough, sure enough you could see it in true hernia style, etc.

Lumps just scare me. Does this all sound right to you?

Sorry, meant to clarify - she's 5 years old, not my 5th daughter

I don't know much about it. However, DS gave himself an inguinal hernia at 11 weeks which went down into the scrotum. He had to have surgery to correct it. He is now almost 7yrs and just recently had to have it corrected again and the right testicle removed.

If you are concerned, go back to your GP. Trust your own instinct.

I omitted the fact that he had projectile vomiting!!!

Yeah I agree with instinct. Thing is she's perfectly well. Full of energy and it doesn't hurt. Would imagine if it was something more sinister she would have some symptoms. Dr said surgery would be highly unlikely unless it caused a problem/lots of pain as the stomach muscles there don't repair well.
