End of August I'm having heel spur operation which I'm dreading.Has anyone had this done and how did recovery go.I'm having bone shaved down then ligament detached then reattached ,can't put any pressure on for two weeks then in boot. Just like to know a little in advance and what to expect.

I had this operation a long time ago, so recovery may be quicker now. I was non-weight bearing for 2 weeks, then in a boot for a further 4 weeks. The first 2 weeks were tough with crutches, like making a cup of tea but not being able to carry it through to the living room. Much better once I had the boot though and I started walking up and down the street etc. I'd say make sure you get lots of books or Netflix lined up for the start. I was very diligent with the physio exercises and it's still perfect over 20 years later. Good luck.

Thank you for reply.Put me at ease a little.I'm so independent and am dreading being so restricted.Good to here that yours was successful.Has to be done but not out of choice!!!😊

I'm glad it helped. I didn't want to get mine done either, but honestly it was the best thing as after the initial few weeks I've had no pain and no problems at all. I only found the first 2 weeks after surgery restrictive, after that I was out walking and on the stationary bike at the gym (both with boot on). Try doing some exercises to build up your arms now as it will help a lot for getting around on crutches.

My experience was similar to @LaughingLemur. On crutches for a couple of weeks. It was quite sore for a few months, but I was so glad it was done. I had it done over 30 years ago and can't see the scar now.
