I’ve been going back and forth to my GP for years.
Apparently I’m fine according to all my bloods and scans etc….. Except that I suffer from almost constant migraines( helped a bit by topimarate), have regular palpitations and vertigo (daily), can’t hold my bladder for more than an hour, swing from constipation to diahorrea daily, have the weirdest crawling intermittently over my skin, can barely wash my hair as scalp is so painful to touch ( yet there’s nothing to see). I have an almost constant cough and regular hiccups ( twice daily for 45 mins) Have just been diagnosed with erosive gastric and a duodenal ulcer as I have been losing weight recently, I’ve been complaining of a tight squeezing chest pain for years. I’ve taken the medication but the pain remains the same, like my bra is too tight. There are soooo many other little things that come and go that I just feel stupid mentioning to my GP as she does anything she can to avoid me!!!
I k ow there’s something going on but unless it’s deemed to be life threatening I can’t get heard.
Is it worth a private GP consultation?? Or am I just going to get fobbed off yet again

Have you been tested for food intolerances? Your symptoms sound similar to the ones dh had before discovering that he is gluten intolerant

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 26/06/2023 18:13

Have you been tested for Helicobacter pylori?
Have you had a blood test for Coeliac ?

Some food intolerances can cause a post nasal drip that irritates your throat and your stomach, which could cause a lot of your symptoms. Have you tried a couple of weeks lactose free?
Don't go gluten free without tests.

Littlemissprosecco · 26/06/2023 18:27

H pylori definitely negative, was tested when I had my endoscopy.
Thank you, I never considered food intolerances, I’ll look into that.

Perimenopause? So many different symptoms!

Rhondaa · 26/06/2023 18:51

I do not want to minimise but are you an anxious person generally? Some problems, not all, may be anxiety related. So look into self care etc to optimise mental wellbeing.

I don't think a private gp consult would help tbh. As your tests have come back clear just focus on what you have a diagnosis for. So, make sure you follow all guidance for your duodenal ulcer avoid alcohol etc. As you've had an endoscopy you must be under a gastric consultant, are you due a follow up? if so ask them what the pain may be due to. You might find they say the ulcer will be causing the discomfort so as I say stick to all guidelines regarding diet and lifestyle.

As a pp said the urinary symptoms could well be peri related depending on your age. Have you had samples sent off for your bowel issues?

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 26/06/2023 19:01

An endoscopy should have checked for Coeliac, so probably not one to worry about.

Have you kept a diary of symptoms and checked how they line up with your menstrual cycle? Are things worse in the week before you are due? How old are you? Peri can be a doddle or a bitch.

Lots of unexplained symptoms do cause anxiety. Mix the stress induced symptoms up with the unexplained symptoms and you became tricky to diagnose. Don't panic, the NHS are reasonable at picking up things that kill you.

the_black_Knight · 26/06/2023 19:10

How long have you been having all of these symptoms?

Littlemissprosecco · 26/06/2023 20:01

i genuinely am not an anxious person, much more of a just get on with it type.
GP has tried beta blockers, no change.
Im 52, on hrt, including testosterone, I had a partial hysterectomy aged 39 due to adenomyosis, so really couldn’t tell where in the month I am.
I’ve honestly been having these symptoms ( and others) on and off for over 20 years, but they’re steadily getting worse.

I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and have pretty much all of the issues you've listed. It's basically weak collagen throughout the body so it can leads to endless issues.

twoandcooplease · 26/06/2023 21:15

Op I am having soooo many problems I'm starting to think it's a food intolerance pp may not be wrong about getting that tested

I've gone to buy one online myself but after doing research found out it's only blood tests that can give you accurate results so I don't know what the online from home actually tests for

birdbrained · 26/06/2023 22:01

Ehlers Danlos is a good shout. But also worth looking at 'dysautonomia' it's basically when your autonomic nervous system gets out of whack. It can affect heart rate, respiration, digestion.

Littlemissprosecco · 26/06/2023 22:07

Thank you all, when things are bad again I will try to push the GP. But often by the time I get to see anyone the symptoms are gone again!
So I think she thinks I’m making it up
Sorry to all who have had to fight for a diagnosis

No, I’ve not got a review with the gastroenterologist, just with the GP, I’m currently on about to start reducing the dose of protein pump inhibitors for two weeks as treatment finishes. I don’t feel any different in terms of the chest pain. The weight loss has stabilised.
Bowel tests, FIIT, result’s negative.

Food intolerance.
Have you seen a British medical herbalist? Worth a consultation to see what they diagnose. They can be better for systemic diagnosis.
