so what are they?

I thought cold sores are they came up and put a compeed patch on over night. This morning lip was fat and looking worse once patch came off.

I spoke to the pharmacist in local chemist who said not cold sores becuase i hadn't felt any tingling before they appeard!

They are painful fluidy blisters in a small cluster. Slightly itchy. And vry annoying!

Any opinions on what they are and if i can put anything on them? Pharmasist just recommended something to keep lips moist ie lip balm. Bit hard to put that on a sore lip!

Looks exactly like a cold sore to me. Mine don't always tiungle and I get them all the time(bloody things) I don't find zovirax works for me any more. There is a newish treatment out which I find very effective called "Fenestil" can get it over the counter at the chemists. Dries them up really quickly.

For reference the antiseptic is Lypsyl coldsore Gel.

Aparently is an anesthetic (for pain releif), antiseptic (to prevent infection) and an astringent to dry it out and help it heal.

No anti-virals to treat the coldsore cause - although as I said tis difficult to use acyclovir early enough if you fdon't get a tingle to be effective

Try half a soluble asprin right on the ulcer. That'll give great pain relief, used this myself on bad ulcers gives a good few hours. Obv don't if you're pregnant though.

Thanks for that advice. None in the house though. Anbesol is helping but stings like mad! Had to lol @ being preg. Been single for 2 yrs!

Hello

I was interested to read your post as I also suffer from clusters of tiny blisters, mine first came up when i was 21 and recovering from glandular fever so was obviously a bit immunocompromised.

Mine do not come up on my lips but just inside and outside of one of my nostrils (lovely!). They don't look much like the ones you get on the lips. I believe I know who I caught them from and they had them in the same location.

I have been to see several Gp's about them in the early days and was told that they were indeed herpes blisters. One sort of herpes is 'cold sores' which you classically get on the lips but there are apparently lots and lots of other herpes virus's and the Gp basically said I had a more unusual strain.I use acyclovir cream on mine (even though it says on the packet dont use inside mucous membranes- am not suggesting anyone else do this!) but its only really worth doing if I catch it right at the beginning of an attack, get quite a distinct itching.

If you are in pain with the sores, they spread or surrounding area becomes swollen/weeping then diefinately get it checked out, but otherwise just try to avoid your trigger factors!!

Thanks rose. Hopefully they will just clear up. And not come back!
