Lyme disease symtoms?

I've been bitten by a couple of ticks - one approx 10 days ago and another within the last 6-ish weeks. I woke up on Saturday with muscle aches for no reason, everything hurt including my tongue and jaw! By the afternoon I needed to stop my gardening and take a nap, and by the end of the day I was wiped out.

Sunday I didn't ache quite as much but still very weak and tired, yesterday much the same but managed to work (WFH). Since last night I've had really painful intermittent stomach pains at waist level which have continued all day and I'm still very tired and unable to concentrate (although had a terrible sleep last night).

I've felt dehydrated all weekend so have been drinking tons of water, but still have a dry mouth and seem to be constipated.

I don't feel ill as much as just knackered! My body doesn't hurt as much as it did initially but I still feel tender and the idea of going for a walk isn't very appealing when I usually go for a walk after work.

If you've been treated for Lyme can I ask if these symptoms sound familiar? The tiredness, fatigue and headaches seem to be common but the stomach pain less so. I don't have a rash at all.

Thank you Mumsnet!

I tried but I can't get a docs appointment until the 29th!

When you phoned the GP did you mention the tick bite, your symptoms & Lyme disease? If you did and they still gave you the 29th as the first appointment, I’d phone 111 & explain your symptoms to them. When I had a suspect tick bite, I had the classic, “bulls eye” mark around the bite too. Good luck.

Absolutely they do sound familiar. I had Lyme last year, unfortunately most NHS doctors aren’t really lyme literate so I had to go private for treatment at a specialist lyme disease clinic but I am generally much better but still have to manage flare ups. Sooner you treat it, the better chance of long term recovery.

I would ask your doctor for 3 weeks doxycycline. Don’t let them make you believe you only have lyme’s with the bullseye rash this is not true. And if you’re tested for lyme with the NHS, please remember the results are very unreliable. Mine came back negative with the NHS, but when I went private and had my blood sent to specialist clinics in America & Germany it was positive.

All the best OP

Not to scaremonger but.... it's here and potentially extremely serious. Unless you consider the permanent loss of the use of your legs etc as mild.

Get tested asap. Don't take no for an answer.

Thank you for the replies, I've managed to change my appointment so there's not quite as long to wait.

I'm tired, achy, no energy, headache, hot and cold - the classic lyme symptoms according to the NHS, and I know I've been bitten by a tick. It should be fairly straightforward to send me home with some antibiotics and my fingers crossed that its all solved.

Does anyone know how long it would take for antibiotics to start working and for me to feel better? I feel slightly better today, would I feel consistently bad if it was lyme until I got treatment?
