Hi,
My dad is 67 and a recent blood test showed that he had an elevated PSA score (he doesn’t know the figure).
His gp then referred him for an mri of the prostate and after that appointment he was told he’d need a biopsy.
He went for his biopsy today and was told that one side of his prostate was enlarged but not enough for the consultant to think he needed to be put on any medication today.
More worryingly, he was also told today that the mri has shown that there was a very small shadow on his pelvic bone and he has now been referred for a more detailed scan.
I know no one can tell me but do you think it sounds like he has prostate cancer and it has spread to his bones? If the prostate cancer is severe enough to have spread, wouldn’t the prostate be more enlarged?
Is it more likely that he has another type of cancer that has spread to his bones or a primary bone cancer? If it was another cancer that was severe enough to have spread to the bones, wouldn’t he be feeling unwell?
Lastly (and hopefully), could the pelvic shadow just be a coincidence and nothing bad - how likely is this though?
TIA
