Please help me handle this pain

I’m desperate.
pain all along jaw and teeth.
dentist I saw last Wednesday said he could nt sort my tooth ( extraction or root canal ) for nearly 3 weeks.
I’ve rang 111 tonight after being beside myself with pain and crying like a baby. They have given me a number to phone tomorrow after 10am for an emergency dentist.
I’ve taken all the painkillers I can and I am still in unbearable pain. It’s the worst pain I e ever known.
I was told it was probably the nerve under a deep filling that I have.
someone help me please.

Sounds as if you can’t have any more paracetamol at the moment and tbh, my toothache wasn’t as bad but lemsip seemed to help more than taking paracetamol tablets did. Not sure there is a reason for it but might be worth a try. I feel for you, toothache is horrid.

Also second the nytol recommendation (or the generic version as it’s half the price).

Sorry, I quoted myself by mistake.

Poor you 💐 Cocodamol is good but it contains paracetamol as well so be careful not to overdose.

ANP2020 · 10/06/2023 23:17

you need to go and get some paramol black, only thing that helped me when I had the exact same. It’s only sold on pharmacies strongest otc pain relief - it’s paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. That and everything else everyone has suggested. The emergency dentist likely will offer to remove it.
only other option I’ve done before with horrific pain is pay private for an emergency dentist I just googled it! I was seen overnight within about an hour of booking and they took it out! It was about £300 so expensive but felt worth it to be pain free at the time!

Agree with keeping your head up a bit overnight
Bit random, but vibrator on the face was somewhat helpful for me!
Also, it will get better one way or another. I found the pain spontaneously eased off quite suddenly- whether nerves died or an abscess burst I don't know.

You can buy over the counter cocodamol and other the counter ibuprofen with codeine. Alternate them every couple hours up to max dose. You can try some anbesol rubbed on the gum around the tooth. Some people swear by cloves or clove oil

Antibiotics do not treat toothache. You need to make sure the emergency dentist tomorrow actually treats your pain by removing the tooth, or dressing it. This should have been done by the first dentist you saw

I swear by Orajel, and always make sure I have some in, they also do an extra strength version.

It's a topical local anaesthetic for dental pain, widely available in chemists, and although doesn't entirely get rid of pain it gives almost instant relief.

I've had multiple dental issues, as I can't open my mouth very wide due to needing a jaw replacement a few years ago. This means as hard as I try, it's very difficult to clean my teeth effectively. So I've tried just about every remedy known for toothache, but Orajel beats them all hands down.

Hope you're feeling better soon. 💐

Chew raw garlic cloves
Mouthwash with corsodyl
Mouthwash with warm salt water wash
Drink alcohol
I've suffered horrific tooth and jaw pain and doing all the above helped immensely x

But obviously be careful if you try the alcohol route if you're on various painkillers

If you can find a pharmacy this late then definitely get some solpadeine, it will really help.

Teeth piss me off, whoever said they aren't fit for purpose was right!

Hope you get it sorted soon.
