Agony ear and jaw

I’ve been in agony for a few days . Brought me to tears this morning. All one side of my mouth and in my ear.
I managed to get an appointment with the dentist this morning after phoning and begging them to see me sooner ( I have an appointment for the 27th)
The dentist did an X-ray and said it was most likely a filling that I have that has started irritating the nerve. He gave me antibiotics in case there was any infection but isn’t going to sort the tooth until the 27th.
can one tooth cause pain in the upper and lower jaw and ear ? This bad ? It’s the worst pain since childbirth !
what’s the chances of it easing off with the antibiotics? I’m worried I’m stuck with this until the 27th, can’t cope !

How is it now? Any better? FWIW I had a terribly painful tooth a couple of years ago. Dentist told me it would need a root canal and that she would have to refer me. She sent me away to wait, with no pain control. Overnight the pain was indescribable. Nothing I had would touch it. In the morning I rang the dentist again and insisted (insofar as that was possible) that she would need to take the tooth out, as there was no way I could continue with that pain. After some backwards and forwards between the dentist and the receptionist the dentist made time that morning. I went in and had the tooth removed. There's no way I could simply have waited in that pain for an unspecified period of time. Maybe this is the answer for you too. Good luck!

Hi , it’s killing me. Been awake all night. I can’t cope with this until the 27th it’s awful.
I really didn’t want to lose the tooth but right now having it taken out is very appealing !

Worth asking them if it could be neuralgia either - if they can't see anything on the scan and they're guessing it's nerves it could be that (trigeminal neuralgia). If it is then it's unlikely that having the tooth removed would help - you have to try various drug treatments until it settles down
