Have not gone in 12 days never this long normally 4 or 5 days would be the longest. Taking lactulose twice a day since Friday but not working. So bloated and feel physically sick and full. Anything to make me go quick and fast but nothing too rough 🙈 honestly getting worried now..

You could try dulcoease suppositories and dulcolax tablets .

Or , and probably better, talk to the pharmacist.

Meantime drink warm water and take some exercise ( walking is fine) and spend some quiet time sitting on the we with feet raised on a stool.

Oldermum84 · 06/06/2023 19:17

Prune juice. Or a suppository. Good luck!

Keitharingsbitch · 06/06/2023 19:26

The suppositories are supposed to be quick but grim. I think for 12 days you might need the drastic action though. Do you know what is causing it?

opalescent · 06/06/2023 19:27

Surely you've tried a glycerine suppository? If not, try it!!

Daffodilsonthewindowsill · 06/06/2023 19:32

Kiwi fruit. Works for everyone I’ve suggested it to.

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 06/06/2023 19:34

Glycerin suppository

Summerishereagain · 06/06/2023 19:35

After 12 days you need medical advice. When you get this sorted you really need to get on top of this issue. Every 4 to 5 days is not normal and will cause longer term issues. The Eric website is designed for children with constipation but the principles are the same. Have a look at it.

I only go naturally every fortnight or so, at least weekly at best. I normally have to take much movicol but have recently discovered by accident that a big mouthful of milk of magnesia at night gets me going the next morning.

once you’ve gone you may need to use movicol for a bit just to keep you going

Sauvignonblanket · 06/06/2023 19:51

String coffee?

Sauvignonblanket · 06/06/2023 19:51

Strong coffee even - sorry!

LividTwunt · 06/06/2023 19:53

My toddler recently went thirteen days and the only thing to shift it was Movicol.

Possibly you can buy the adult one otc?

I tried three nights of suppositories on him and not a whisper.

TheWorldKickedBack · 06/06/2023 19:55

Prune juice. Only thing that worked.

GayPareeee · 06/06/2023 20:00

If you buy it ask for laxido/cosmicolnotc, much cheaper than branded movicol and same stuff.

Suppositories will only work if the rectum is full, if you're blocked further up they won't do anything

Try abdominal massage. Search on internet to check you're doing it in the right direction.

lauryloo · 06/06/2023 21:31

I was desparate last week and a whole pack of sugar free sweets from lidl got things moving.

I'd tried movicol but was so uncomfortable I needed a quick result
