Anyone been diagnosed with Crohns or other IBD at 50? Abdominal pain?

Every now and then I get a flare up of indigestion that is pretty severe and lasts up to three weeks (at worst). I've just been having a rough time with it but it's improving. I know the pattern, so I'm not too concerned about that. I've had a gastroscopy a year ago. That was fine.

Sometimes I get abdominal pain and the doctor has diagnosed IBS. No colonoscopy though. I've had one specific pain area (though it still moves around a bit) on the right of my belly button for the last 18 months. Nothing shown on ultrasound (which didn't include intestinal imaging). I did a calprotectin test which was ok.

Currently having a bout of indigestion and that right sided specific pain. Second time this year. No weight loss, or I'd really be concerned, but I have a child with Crohns, so I'm concerned that could have started.

Has anyone been diagnosed later in life? I've ordered another calprotectin test and am a bit scared of the results, to be honest.

I have had Crohn’s for over 20 years and my bloods have never once shown high markers despite in that time requiring 8 surgeries and never going into remission - elective stoma now. Insist on full endoscopy , it took years for them to figure out I didn’t have IBS or a stomach ulcer but infact was riddled with ulceration and narrowed to the extent I needed my first very extensive surgery

You've had a rough ride. :-( Did you ever have a calprotection test done? How was that?

I’ve had lots done but they’ve never come back as positive in terms of active inflammation even immediately before a resection - it does happen
