Searching for a previous thread about a lump left after beetle bite

I read a thread here after an internet search on lumps left after beetle bite. That same search brings nothing now! Can anyone remember the thread or even better contributed to the conversation? I'd love to know and discuss further.

I have a lump on my hand left after a small beetle bit me a few years ago. I am told that there are no biting beetles native to the UK .... no one has told the beetle - maybe it was on holiday! I know what I saw on my hand. At the time the bite swelled up and was painful for months. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and showed it to my rheumatology nurse at the time, she injected it with steroids and it went down.

The painful lump reoccurs annually between the first and second knuckles on my left hand causing pain and a lack of grip (due to the pain). It's like I've hit it with a hammer, it feels bruised when I use my hand but no pain when I prod the swelling. I guess the swelling is pushing on nerves or tendons. I'm off to have it injected again today, this will be the 5th year I've had it injected. I feel that there is no real explanation of what it is. No one actually wants to know. There is a red mark still from the bite. Should I ask for a scan to see what is really in there? Is there a lab somewhere interested in the activities of small rogue beetles?

Hoping you can help, thank you

well ladybirds are beetles and they bite, I believe, and there are loads of them in UK

Maybe it was an inflammatory reaction, I had a similar lump behind my knee since I was a child and was told I may have been bitten and the body reacted, although it does not hurt

Yes Ladybirds munch their prey so do other bugs.

My lovely Dr has agreed we should try to see what the lump is and if there is anything in it. I'm going for an ultrasound scan before he injects it this time.

Progress
