Getting fit when looking after kids

Just how does one do it?

I'm a stay at home Dad in Germany and I am desperate to start something like jogging to get a bit fitter. I have a bike with a trailer which I drive the kids round in the countryside but that doesnt knacker me out enough. I wokre up at 6am the other day ready to start some running - I am not a procrastinator - but it was simply too dark and ciy everywhere - I can't afford to slip on ice and get hurt with two kids to care for.

No the best might be some exercises to do in the lounge with the kids either watching or copying which could be funny. Are there any websites which list exercises for those in my situation?

personal trainer?

i have been using one for a month now, as i it couldn't get out to the gym regulalry

it is pricey but last time i did excercises without supervision i put my back out for a month

if you can afford it, then i would go for it

How old are the children? I regularly go running with a pushchair (not at the mo as am pregnant).

Are they young enough to put in a buggy and go for long brisk walks? Or better still, carry one in a backpack!

My dh's exercise routine involves doing some stretches, then a 13 minute (!) run, then half an hour of weights - hence he is only out of the house for a short time. Generally he does it while I'm here, but we have discussed the possibility of him doing it once they're in bed and asking a neighbour to keep an eye for the 13 minutes.

Thanks for those ideas. I used to jog round a park with Daughter when she was learning to walk but got put off as half way round she wanted to get out and try to walk!

I'm thinking more along the lines of exercises at home perhaps with a website for those in my situation. Most likely to be some kind of exercise video.

Wife got the Cindy Crawford DVD but I ended up doing bugger all just watching her bum moving all the time!
