Getting back into NHS system

A few months ago I tried to see my NHS doctor as I was having strong abdominal pains. I couldn't get a F to F appointment and was desperate so shelled out for a private GP. DH then got a temp job with health insurance and I ended up having quite a few investigative procedures privately.

I've been given the all clear but told my bloods will need monitoring twice a year, for ever. I can't afford to do this privately. How do I 'get back' into my NHS GPs with all this? I've asked for all my notes from my consultant (he dealt entirely with the private GP) so can pass these on to the NHS practice. Is it acceptable to do this and then ring in 6 months and ask for blood testing?! Have been out of the UK for a few years and not sure how it works....

Didn't your consultant copy in your NHS GP to the letter/email about bloods? Or write to them directly? If they're standard tests your GP should do them, but you may need to speak to them first if they haven't been directly requested by a consultant.

What diagnosis did you get to warrant blood tests twice a year? If you tell your GP the diagnosis they will follow the protocol the NHS stipulates. I lived abroad And found that their protocols are often different from the NHS guidelines.

You can be registered with an NHS GP and use private options. The NHS GP should be willing to act on reasonable follow-up requests.
Could you arrange an NHS appointment (even by phone) to discuss, share the paperwork by email?
It is not really possible to just be the private sector in the UK so any GP Practice should be used to people mixing and matching.

Every private (Bupa) appointment/ procedure I have had has resulted in a letter to my GP so it's all on my NHS record too. Did your private treatment not do this?
Just make an appointment with your GP and explain your symptoms and diagnosis and ask them what's next.

I have unexplained high platelets, so need to make sure they don't get too high. I'm trying to get hold of my private records (having to fight for this!) & will pass on to my NHS GP & take it from there.

They should send information to your GP unless you stated they shouldn't. Re GP following the private ones instructions that depends on whether they agree its needed based on NHS criteria.
