Measles/German Measles and MMR

Quick question. If my DS has had his MMR vacination, is it still possible to get measles or german measles? He was fine on Sunday and then Monday I noticed spots on his chest and back, they gradually spread some to his legs, arms and face and tongue. He was grouchy and clingy yesterday but back to normal today, just spotty. I took him to an out of hours doctor as we thought it was chickenpox, but doctor said it was probably a viral infection but just watch to see if his symptoms get worse. They haven't and he has had no other symptoms of either. His nursery have had no reported cases of chickenpox or measles but they did have a case of a girl at the weekend who had chickenpox-like rash, but was also told the same. He is seeing doctor tomorrow morning, but I am worried as we are supposed to be flying up to Scotland on Friday for what will be our only holiday this year. Is it likely to be measles, when all the information I have read seems to indicate that it is very rare to contract them when you have had the MMR. Any advice gratefully received.

hmmm well, you can get measles/rubella even if you have been vaccinated.
some people just don't "take" to the vaccine and get the immunity from it.
it can also wear off, but I believe this is unlikely unless your ds is much older.

Tbh I would say that your GP is prob right. viral rashes are quite common, and it's more plausible than him having measles/rubella

Thanks Fingerwoman. DS is only 2.5, so not likely to wear off yet I wouldn't think. Its just that everyone keeps saying "Ooooooh measles" and I think but he has had none of the more common symptoms, just the rash.
