Yesterday my mother (mid-60s) took very unwell and ended up in A&E. She had lightheadedness, nausea and tachycardia. She seemed very weak and distressed so I called an ambulance. I was worried I was overreacting; however, the paramedics said that she was in AFib and we were heading for resus. Her O2 was slightly low (93%) and improved with oxygen. My mother has a history of autoimmune and neurological problems but has never had anything cardiac before.
Once in hospital, she felt better and they did the usual tests (several ECGs, bloods). She was given a bag of fluid (?) and after several hours, the doctor did another ECG. It was normal and we were discharged. Cardiology may see her but I'm not overly hopeful. What would be the best thing to do? I would like her to be more thoroughly checked out.
