To cancel colonoscopy tomorrow?

Hi everyone, I’m due to have a colonoscopy tomorrow and suppose to start the laxative in an hour! I’m really freaking out about it all and have bad anxiety about something going wrong (like bleeding or tearing my colon) I’m worried that I’m having it done unnecessary and thinking about not doing it at all. So basically I’ve been referred as since the birth of my second daughter as I’ve been feeling like something is stuck inside my bum, I thought it was a prolapse but 2 doctors have checked and I’ve been having private physiotherapy but still having problems. Since I was little I’ve always had tummy pains on and off and issues with my bowels such as constipation and diarrhoea which gets worse now and again. I think my doctor has also referred me as I’ve had low iron for years but has got worse due to heavy bleeding after giving birth… I’m so scared 😟 to go tomorrow and having to breastfeed and be on the toilet all nice don’t know if I can do it. Should I try to push for a ct scan instead as I’m freaking out about the risks involved… but also worried about why I’m feeling like somethings is stuck up my bottom… please help… has anyone been through a colonoscopy or cancelled it? Thanks so much sorry it’s so long xxxxx

Hey, I have a colonoscopy tomorrow and I’m super nervous and can’t stop crying. Was it ok?

I second everything WhatToDoQu has said. I also have had two colonoscopies and they really aren't as bad as we make out in our head, the fear of the unknown really is our biggest hurdle. I wasn't too concerned for the second one but had got myself into such a frenzy before the first that I was so close to backing out. I did it with gas and air both times too. You can honestly do this and once it's over (it really isn't very long) you'll be very proud of yourself.

Oh and if you do go with just the gas and air do look at the screen, I found looking at my insides super amazing (yep, I'm weird lol).

Honestly, I didn't feel anything after the first bend (sigmoid?) I was told the other bends are easier. The endoscopist talks to you the whole time about something completely different. They are really very skilled and you'll feel a huge sense of relief after. I am not very good with medical procedures, so honestly, if I can do it anyone can. I work myself up before hand, so I totally get where you;re coming from. The procedure is over in less than 20 mins, and the discomfort on the first bend is no more than period cramps. Wishing you the best.
