Blood tests - Thriva, Bupa, Spire or ?

Hi all

With the NHS being what it is, I want to get some bloods done myself.

Thyroid panel, Iron panel, Vit B9 (folate), B12, Vit D and magnesium for starters.

Thriva seems to offer all of these, but would I be better off booking a consultation with a private GP first on the basis that if I'm paying they'll "care" and maybe listen to all my symptoms and help more?

Would appreciate any input/experience. TIA

I think you should go to your Gp first and it shouldn’t take long for them to arrange for those bloods. In my experience they’ll often want to repeat them anyway if they’ve been done privately before they’ll refer you anywhere. However, if you suspect you have autoimmune issues you could book an initial private consultation with an endocrinologist (I did this through Spire, cost me £250) and if you’ve already done the bloods on the nhs they can access these and discuss them at your appointment so you don’t end up paying for things several times.

I've used Medichecks a couple of times. Always been quick and results come with a very thorough and clear report.

Thanks @Xrays I tried that. They were highly uninterested as already diagnosed hypothyroid and bumped me to the out of ours medical hub.

GP rung and listened to 2-3 of my long list of symptoms before arranging TBF comprehensive blood tests.... but a different GP rung me back with results - low iron and Vit D, everything else "normal", told to take Ferrous sulfate 1 tab a day and Vit D 1000u a day for 3 months. I asked about retesting and was told no.
I rung the GP a while after to try and get the results and was told as they didn't order the tests it's not on their systems and it's not showing on the NHS app and I just don't have the energy for all this - the whole reason I rung them in the first place Grin

Was just hoping that by paying either just for the test and keeping an eye on things myself or go and see a private GP to maybe feel like someone cares.... even if only about my money!

Thanks @hesaidshesaidtheysaid I didn't think Medichecks ran everything on my list but I will have another look at all their options. Did you go and get the bloods drawn somewhere or do it yourself?

Medichecks def. They do all those. They will be as packages rather than individual - eg you can do their comprehensive female health check, or tiredness check, or advanced nutrition panel.

Ive used them lots. You get a written report from a doctor. The online platform with your results on is really good too.

I know I sound like a bot promoting them, I’m not, I promise!

Some tests you can do at home and post. Some of the more comprehensive tests need need bloods drawn in clinic which costs an additional £30.

I will have another look over the weekend then. Thanks
