Where to get a night catheter bag from

DH had an op on Thursday, discharged on Friday but realised they've not given him a nighttime catheter bag but 2 smaller day ones. Called the urology nurse at the hospital where he had the op (its a drive away)and she said she'd try to get one from our local hospital - no sign of it yet. Left a message with the Macmillan nurses at our local hospital but no response. Any idea where we can get one from? He's having to set alarms and wake up every 2 hours to empty it. Do doctor's surgeries hold anything like this?

Ring your GP surgery and ask for a referral to the District Nurses, some carry them when on visits, or ask your GP for a prescription.

Go online to Coloplast or Wellspect. You can sign up for a catheter delivery pack

A local nursing or residential home may well give you one or two to tide you over

Local community hospital or care home will probably be able to help, or the district nurses

Facebook your best bet. Otherwise could you take turns to empty the bag throughout the night. So that you both get 4 hour sleeps

Amazon?

Jonei · 15/05/2023 17:54

There should be a single point of access where you are, if you Google for the number. Ring them and explain the problem, and hopefully they will get one out to you.

ChocHotolate · 15/05/2023 18:09

You can buy them on Amazon, might be enough until you can get a supply sorted

Trixiedrum · 15/05/2023 18:11

District nurses should supply them, the GP probably can’t get hold of one but can refer you to the DNs.

Is the hospital the op was in far away? If you rang the ward he was on they would likely let you collect one to tide him over.

Thanks everyone. Luckily the Macmillan nurse called me back and I've been to pick some up from our local hospital. Phew!
