My BUPA insurance premium has gone up by 27%! It seems like a lot. Is that normal? I can't switch as nobody else will cover me for previous health conditions.

We are with AXA PPP and we have an old type policy which is more expensive but covers existing conditions. I pay yearly to get a discount and no longer have outpatient cover and have a £1,000 excess. Each year when renewal comes in I ring straightaway and go through everything with them, they then don’t come up with a cheaper option, so I say I’m happy with the policy, just not the price, I say I’m happy with a small increase but cannot afford anything bigger. Some years they’ve given me 3 months free, but recently they’ve only offered one month free. Ours is due for renewal in August.

@Mindymomo Thank you! Does it cover pre existing conditions prior to actually using AXA? I will give them a ring. And also BUPA. Thank you.

We are Bupa as well. Have you used it much in the previous year? Premiums go up the more they pay out and with age - I am dreading DD’s renewal this time around as they have covered 2 surgeries the past few months😬Even with very minimal use last year (around £500) it still went up quite a bit
