B12 deficiency, how to treat till next blood test?

4 months ago had diabetic bloods done. Came back very low B12. GP was torn between a course of b12 tablets or the injection. Went down the tablet route to see if it's just a blip.
Ran out of B12 on Monday, called Gp surgery, ho had completely forgotten to call me for repeat bloods. The downside to this is I now can't a blood test till 30th May, and they won't repeat the prescription till it's been done.
Do I just let my B12 levels tank so the blood test is a true representation? Or should I buy supplements for the meantime? Not sure I can go back to feeling exhausted all the time

You actually need to not be taking B12 for at least 4 months before having a blood test for the results to be accurate. Once low B12 has been found treatment should be based on symptoms. Unfortunately most Drs don't have much training in vitamins so they could do a blood test and tell you that your levels are fine and you don't need any more treatment even though you feel terrible 😔.
The good news is that you can buy B12 tablets so you don't need to rely on your Dr. Also any unused B12 will leave your system so you don't need to worry about your levels going too high like you would with some vitamins. There are various types of B12, this site gives you information on them https://ivboost.uk/4-types-of-vitamin-b12/
I have learnt the hard way that you sometimes have to do your own research and treat yourself, I have just had a B12 injection privately as I have bad fatigue and my Dr is not at all helpful.

You can also buy oral sprays which I find quite effective as a top up between injections for pernicious anemia
