Any doctors able to advise on blood test results?

Hi, I recently had some blood tests carried out as a general health check and have had the results sent over by email. I can't get an appointment with the GP to discuss the results until next week but have managed to get myself in to a bit of a panic having a look through at some of the results and not really understanding what they all mean. Did the worst thing possible and started to google it and obviously it pretty much told me the worst possible outcomes which I'm sure aren't the case.

Are there any doctors in here that would be able to have a quick glance over the test results and hopefully put my mind at ease?

It's it was very serious they would have called you. DH was phoned by the GP at 7pm on a Friday when it was bad.

GayPareeee · 10/05/2023 16:02

normally the results come with the reference ranges, if not can quickly and easily google. No Dr who is not treating you could advise you, but if there's a specific result you're worried about it may be worth googling first and then asking

Your test results should include the normal range. If you're just outside normal range, for most things GP will probably mark as normal/no further action. I'm not a doctor, but might be able to reassure you if you can post your results (crop out any personal details).

Predominately the ESR level, the 'normal' range is said to be between 0-12 and nine shows as 24 and flagged as high. tThe rest all appear to be in range according to the sheet albeit a lot of them at the higher side of normal. Also on the urine test the WBC and RBC seem slightly high aswell as the urine culture

Mixed growth on a urine sample is usually ignored as contamination from when it was collected.

TheQueensCousin · 10/05/2023 16:16

ESR can often be a marker of inflammation in the body ie. people with arthritis often have raised levels.

A patient, not a doctor. Have had a lot of blood tests for an illness. Often if there is another infection some of the blood results will either be elevated or low. In my case when there was something bad, a lot of the results were out of range rather than just one or a few. Try not to stress, but ask the doctor and if there are any doubts push for follow-up.

AnnaMagnani · 10/05/2023 16:53

24 is not v high for an ESR, in some places that would be a normal result.

Dubaibutwhy · 10/05/2023 19:09

Nothing very exciting. No need to panic.

TheOtherHotstepper · 10/05/2023 19:17

No need to panic, but a good B complex with methylfolate wouldn't go amiss and your thyroid results bear some further examination. That FT4 is lower than I would like to see.

How are you feeling? A little sluggish maybe?

rolluprollup · 10/05/2023 19:19

Honestly constantly exhausted. But have been putting it down to stress at work, having two kids and a never ending full house renovation.

I wouldn’t panic with these results.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 10/05/2023 19:24

These look fine, I'd love to have your cholesterol.

Mine is just in the normal range at 39 with the cut off at 40 for the labs my GP uses. It was 123! Now THAT is high.
