Was this a seizure?

Last night my friend said ‘oh I feel a bit funny’ then grabbed her head and said ‘somethings happening’ then for around a minute slumped back, shaking uncontrollably, completely unconscious. She then began to snore loudly with her eyes wide open but completely out of it. I kept saying her name & was holding her to try keep her safe (I know I should of reacted better and called an ambulance straight away but it was my first experience of this and I panicked) she came round and asked what was happening. She was wet with sweat and white as a sheet, she didn’t remember a thing. I said we should call an ambulance but she was adamant I don’t, she says she will get checked and isn’t going to drive before she does.

does this sound like a seizure? I am still a bit shocked by it all it was so scary but over so fast yet felt like a lifetime. We had a couple glasses of wine but we’re not drunk, has eaten etc. otherwise she is very healthy and this is the first time it’s ever happened to her.

Certainly sounds like it

She definitely needs a medical assessment.

For future reference the snoring was probably because her airway was obstructed (presumably by her slumped position).

Yes - my ds has Epilepsy and this sounds like a seizure to me . She should tell her GP. They will not diagnose Epilepsy based on one seizure but will advise her to monitor the situation for the next few months

Snoring/altered breathing after a seizure is very common and is actually used to distinguish epileptic from non epileptic seizures

Yes it most certainly sounds like a seizure and your friend needs assessed to rule out any serious underlying causes.
