Just looking for some hand holding and other experiences 😞 received my smear results yesterday that showed HPV positive with moderate dyskaryosis. I have a colposcopy booked for 11th May so happy it’s fairly soon. I have had yearly smears as my first year 25 I was HPV positive, next year I was HPV positive no cell changes, now this year I have moderate changes.
I’m absolutely petrified I’m going to get there and it’s even worse than what’s expected.
I have two young babies and have all sorts of thoughts in my head I’m not going to be here to see them grow up.
so hard not to worry I’ve just been sobbing since I found out 😩

I had an abnormal smear last year, I didn't have HPV but had cell changes which after my colposcopy I found out was CIN3 which had gone into my glands too.

I had the LLETZ procedure to burn the cells off and then went back 6 months later for a check up and everything was absolutely fine and i now dont have to go back until my usual smear in 3 years.

I know how worrying it is, but im sure you'll be absolutely fine OP, its very common - although I know that doesn't take the worry away as I was exactly the same! x

We have smears so these cell changes can be found early when they can be treated easily.

You have moderate changes and even if they're upgraded to severe the treatment is straightforward and effective.

just can’t wait for the appointment just so I know at least something is being done x

I know it's a shock, OP, but colposcopies are a very common procedure - tens of thousands done every year. The majority of cell changes wouldn't turn into cancer even if left untreated but the NHS don't take chances - they're looking out for you and your babies 🙂

P.s. they might downgrade the cells and decide not to treat but to keep an eye on things. That's good too - you're In the System now as my GP used to say!
