Had this foot pain for months now , I've tried roller , spikey balls , shitazu foot massager, pain relief. Fit flops , had brooks shoes fitted with gait analysis, one foot overpronates. orthotics Stretching , deep tissue massages. I must have spent over £1500 and its still terrible. Should I immobilise for a few days to see if it helps ? I didn't manage to sleep until 5am last night because of the pain.

Have you tried massaging your calf muscles? If they are tight and pulling on your achilles tendons, loosening them up could help.

I developed PF when I put on a stone and a half and I wasn't very overweight to start with as I was slim(ish). I've lost half of it (so far) and the PF has gone, it's lovely.

For me, my feet didn't cope with me being overweight even by a relatively small amount. It was definitely the weight that set it off and losing the weight that has made it go, there's been no other significant changes.

I'm quite slim no weight gain loss more than anything my bmi is 20 and I'm a size 8. I wish it was my weight at least I can do something about it.

I think there's lots of different causes, it's just that I feel that's what it was in my case and I only realised that's what might have caused mine after reading it on a previous thread here. I hope you find relief from it soon, I know how painful it is.

wondabar · 29/04/2023 00:44

I tried all sorts of remedies but a cortisone injection made it feel infinitely better. The pain stopped within a few days .

I also had this a couple of years ago and it was agony and so debilitating and awful. I saw a podiatrist and he said that different things work for different people, so he tries a number of things. For me, I would go back every week to have my whole foot strapped up with tape which stayed on for a week (in the shower etc), plus I wore very supportive trainers all the time, never went bare foot, no walking on sand (which is how mine came on!). Mine did clear up with this and hasn’t returned. Sympathies though, it’s awful.

Ozgirl75 · 29/04/2023 10:20

I will say, the taping worked almost immediately, the pain was basically gone. The whole foot was strapped, it kind of lifted the arch up. It felt quite nice actually. He kept it up for about 5 or 6 weeks though to fully get rid of it

After looking up threads on PF last week I watched this from a recommendation . Bob and Brad are US physios.
I’ve had PF for 2 years, possibly caused by wearing Skechers.
The exercises in this video have already made a big difference to my pain levels even though I’ve not done the exercises as often as recommended.
( Currently have Covid and feeling rough).

I really feel for you, my method is like the opposite of everyone else!

I've had pf since 2021 and seen a podiatrist etc but didn't think the insoles and exercises were helping (beyond the initial relief). I've started seeing a personal trainer and have started wearing minimalist/barefoot shoes Shock I'd never have thought I'd be able to walk barefoot but my feet are no worse and possibly slightly better after 6 weeks.

With the PT I do a lot of foot strengthening stuff as well as weights and core work.

Maybe worth seeing if you csm find a barefoot specialist to help you?

fetchacloth · 01/05/2023 21:46

I had this condition years ago and I went to physio which didn't help much unfortunately. However the physio advised wearing trainers with arch support which did help.
The bad news was that it took about a year to completely shift it 😪
It seems there are no shortcuts!

Every single person with PF will tell you something different what helped or fixed it. It's maddening. I only know that heel rises helps with mine. A lot of other ideas mentioned here didn't help me.

SayrraT · 02/05/2023 06:12

I agree lljkk I did all the usual things and they didn't help but barefoot and strength training seems to be helping.

PF is a horrible thing to have and doesn't seem to be easy/straightforward to fix.

I hope something suggested here will help you OP

Only thing that helped mine was time.

I agree with this too.
Bought all the gadgets and nothing changed. Wore Skechers, Ecco and Fitflop Rally trainers and slowly it went away. Took a good year.

I got fitflop slippers to wear around the house but the thing that really helped were the sexy socks! Your foot drops at night and that’s why it hurts so much in the morning. These bad boys keep your foot raised. Took about 4 weeks to go totally once I had these:
