Internal vaginal scan today

Hi all,
I was concerned my copper coil strings felt longer, so GP organised an internal scan.

Went today and sonographer did a transvaginal scan. All ok with the coil, but she then started checking womb/ovaries etc while she was scanning. She seemed to be saying things looked ok.

But then when I got dressed to go, she said she would write to GP within 7 days with results. At that point I just wondered if there was something she’d seen that she was concerned about… I did ask this directly and she was a bit cagey. Anyone got any thoughts… if they see something bad do they normally tell you there and then?

I'm pretty sure they would tell you straight away if something was wrong

Thanks. I hope you’re right. I could be overthinking it…

I've had many ultrasound scans of my womb and ovaries. The tech always says if she sees anything. Usually a range of cysts in my case. I then have an appointment with my gp to discuss further.
They would have said if they saw something.

Hi. Yeah, do try to not worry. This is perfectly normal. Id definitely say that the majority of time I've had to have tests, scans, X-rays, even mammograms and smears etc, there have been variations of the "your dr/you will get the results within x days..." blah... occasionally I'll get the results straight away from them, say if something specific is being looked at/for in an X-ray for example and the result is immediately obvious, but even then they still send the report to the doctor. They usually just want you to have a timescale so that you don't worry, or because you might need to know so that you can book your next gp appointment for the results etc. But, honestly, it really is rather common that more often than not they'll give you an idea when to expect them and definitely not - in itself - something to worry about.

I'm #cough# years old with various health conditions, so there's been many tests, prods, jabs, "insertions" 🫣, scans and anything else and so I hope that might reassure you even a tiny bit 😊

Thank you all for replying. I’ll try not to worry.

I had one 2 weeks ago. She reported everything she found directly to me. ( fibroids and an ovarian fibroma )

I've always been told the results of my US on the day which is an update on what cysts I have on my ovaries and how big they are.

Try not to worry, if you phone your GP the receptionist will probably be able to tell you the results over the phone.

I’ve never been told results - good or bad - on the nhs. Last time I had fibroids and a polyp and GP referred to gynae.
