Sounds a bit like dd over Xmas, fluey, vomitty, etc. She ended up fainting was out for about 5 seconds. But swiftly improved once eating/drinking more.
Agree that the continued dizziness, dodgy balance sounds like a v. bad ear infection (?labyrinthine?).
Bear in mind surgeries shutting soon...if you've got to make the call, make it now.

Last year I had Labryinthitis. It is an infection of the inner ear and causes dizziness, vomiting etc. I was petrified, I turned over in bed and the whole room started spinning in circles, it was very frightening until I saw the doctor, they gave me some tablets to help with the dizziness, couldn't cure it as just a bug, took about 3 weeks to go. I couldn't drive and had to be really careful just walking around, the worst dizziness was turning over in bed though, was horrid. Anyway if it could be that take her to docs as they can help symptons.

That sounds exactlt like I felt, kids describe things much better don't they.
Hope she is feeling better, may want to let her sleep in with you or something, I found it really frightening in the night, dh had to hold my hand and assure me was ok unitl it passed. At first wasn't actually sure if I was awake or not.

Sounds very like labyrinthitis to me as well. I had it for 3 months

Lying down can make the dizziness worse. You are actually supposed to keep moving around as much as you can manage to recover faster.

It was the worse thing I have ever had

fizzbuzz · 16/02/2008 18:08

Also, it peaks in early spring, and I know 3 people who've had it since Christmas

Notalone · 16/02/2008 19:28

Ds had something like this on valentines day and we spent a "romantic" valentines evening in A & E. DS got out of the bath and was v v dizzy - his pupils were massive and he could not walk in a straight line without falling over. He had the full MOT at A & E and was told there was nothing wrong and it was just one of those things. No vomiting though thank god as I am emetophobic

Notalone · 16/02/2008 19:30

Sorry - this posted before it was supposed to!

Your poor DD. From what I remember wasn't she ill over Xmas too? Hope she feels better soon and that her sleep over can be re arranged too. How are you feeling now?

cariboo · 16/02/2008 19:34

Yes. I had such severe dizziness that I couldn't even get out of bed to barf, much to dh's disgust. It was the absolute worst combination of symptoms I can imagine... gp actually came round to give me an injection to stop the vomiting & told me that some viruses can interfere with balance.

i quite often get an inner ear infection - my ears don't hurt or ooze - but i get very dizzy[kind of spinning like when very drunk] also makes me feel very sick sometimes actually sick and my balance is totally off - tis horrid

but this sounds like a virus as ear infections aren't infectious?
