I got a cut ten days ago and I don't know how. I didn't notice it until it started to get really hot and painful.

The pain comes and goes, at some points it is agony to walk on and then it won't be painful at all for hours (like now). It hurts most when standing.

It's leaking fluid/pus and the area is warm and swollen.

The first pic is from a week ago and the second is today.

To me it looks like a blister from shoes rubbing and that it’s healing. I’m not a medical expert though! You could always show it to a pharmacist?

QueenSmartypants · 17/04/2023 17:46

I'd leave it. I'm not medically qualified but in my experience of cuts and blisters it appears to be healing normally. Pain isn't unusual.

See a pharmacist for reassurance.

Keep clean, covered with a plaster or small dressing. Ibuprofen will help with pain and reduce inflammation.

RudsyFarmer · 17/04/2023 17:46

The second photo looks fine to me.

rockpoolingtogether · 17/04/2023 17:48

It appears to have scabbed over and be healing

lljkk · 17/04/2023 18:02

Have you doused it in topical antiseptics?

ditalini · 17/04/2023 18:04

That looks sore but par for the course for a heel injury that's probably getting rubbed if you're wearing shoes. Try a hydrocolloid plaster - even if it isn't a blister it'll protect it and promote healing.

PinkFootstool · 17/04/2023 18:05

Looks like a normal scab now, so it's healing. If you're worried about it, soak it for an hour or so in warm water - a bath with whatever product you like will do, or salted water in a bucket!

I am highly accomplished at ripping that area to shreds with my razors when shaving my legs and they always heal just fine.

LumpyLoo8 · 17/04/2023 18:12

Stick some Savlon / Germanlene on it, and a plaster to stop shoes rubbing. It’ll heal fine.

You can get rapid healing plasters (Tesco do them - probably other places too) that are very good.

PurpleAirGuitar · 17/04/2023 18:36

The second picture looks healthier to me.

bumpytrumpy · 17/04/2023 22:18

It it's not healing you need to get it looked at.

ArcticSkewer · 17/04/2023 22:30

To me it looks fine - how are you treating it? with antiseptic cream?

LK1972 · 17/04/2023 23:05

If it's still hot, swollen and leaking pus it's likely infected, and you need oral or topical antibiotics. I wouldn't leave it OP, better safe than sorry, it can also develop into something much more serious: www.hchcares.org/2016/09/28/seemingly-minor-cuts-and-infections-can-cause-sepsis/

nccoldfeet · 17/04/2023 23:16

I had something similar back in December OP. Like you, I was in agony standing/walking. Mine was also swollen and leaking pus.

I wasn't in the UK at the time but went to the hospital where they gave me oral antibiotics and a topical cream. They were speaking about keeping me overnight for an IV.

Your most recent picture looks better but I'd get it checked in case x

Sierra1961 · 17/04/2023 23:36

It literally looks like a blister from where shoes have rubbed. I have one on the back of my foot as we speak. Germolene and a plaster will do. You’re joking right? 😂😳

SD1978 · 17/04/2023 23:58

Maybe see a pharmacist? They would be able to advise the correct dressing

I don’t think OP’s hands or feet put her in the same age bracket as Betty, so unlikely to develop into a Venous fucking leg ulcer 🤣 HTH.

OP, it’s looks like a healing scab, crack on.

asndeorno · 18/04/2023 08:33

Thank you everyone.

I went to the out of hours GP yesterday and have a cream and a course of oral antibiotics.

Hoping this clears it!
