Pulsatile tinnitus

Hello has anyone experienced pulsatile tinnitus? I've had it for over a year now and the doctors can't find any reason for it but I'd love to get rid of it.

Yes!! Literally only found out yesterday what it’s called. Have had it for years in and off but much worse covid.

It’s never crossed my mind that you can get rid of it so I just ignore it.

Would be interested to read other people’s experiences

That's interesting you said covid @ThisNameIsNotAvailable as my doctor said covid was one of his guesses for what caused mine

I don't know if I have it but I certainly have very similar symptoms. It sounds like a car engine or the heating coming on.
Today though it's been more like my heartbeat in my ears.
I think it comes and goes.but when I have it I have it for weeks on end. It's been driving me demented today

There’s a big link between covid and tinnitus. I’ve had normal tinnitus since covid too

Londonloubelia · 16/04/2023 21:01

I’ve had it since covid too. Just right ear. Had scans and ear tests, nothing they can do. I find pink noise helps to block it when I go to sleep . There are many different coloured noise on you tube, worth playing them and you’ll know which one helps with yours. It doesn’t get rid of it but it stops you hearing it when you try and sleep.

I had it for months last year. It was maddening. I got referred to an ENT who checked my hearing and it's worse in the ear that had the tinnitus, I had a burst ear drum in that ear the year before so it was explained as damage from that causing Eustachian tube dysfunction. I thought it would never get better but it did.

The saline spray sterimar really helps in the long term (you have to be consistent) to clear the tubes. Just keep spraying up your nose a couple of times a day xx

Symptom of intracranial hypertension

Orangesandlemons82 · 17/04/2023 22:01

I have had it for over a year. Found out recently mine is caused by a heart murmur.

Finally had ENT appointment after waiting 18 months. He’s sending me for another scan but then I got a letter cc’d for my doctor, from him saying how he’d seen me to discuss non pulsatile tinnitus, which makes me despair even more that he didn’t actually listen to a word I said!

What's you ferritin level? I had it for a few months, a blood test showed borderline low ferritin so I've taken gentle iron supplements (Solgar?) and it's gone. Still left with the buzzing squeaky tunitus though...
