Post cataract surgery recovery

Has anyone had cataract surgery and felt terribly tired afterwards?
Ive just had one eye done which post operatively was very very uncomfortable but now, four days later is pain free but still a bit gritty but I’m terribly tired and want to sleep a lot.
Could it be that my brain is working overtime to cope with my operated eye seeing so much more clearly and the other eye still being in what I now know to be “sepia mode.”

I had both eyes done four days ago.. I never nap during the day but since surgery I just keep wanting to close my eyes and nap. I'm thinking it's because my vision is not totally clear in the distance and so it's exhausting trying to focus properly. The TV is a bit blurry. I'm hoping it clears soon but I can't find anywhere that says when the tiredness and blurriness will stop. Hope you feel better very soon!

If you were sedated, that could be a reason. I was also tired after both cataract ops. It’s all quite fiddly with the eye drops afterwards.
I’m sure you’ll be fine soon. Enjoy the brightness of everything!!

Thank you. Yes I had sedation, I don’t know how I’d have done it without 😳. I just wish my distance vision would clear now as it’s still lacking clarity/blurry a week after surgery!

Usually patients are discharged with a leaflet explaining the ins & outs of the procedure. If there is a Helpline no I would call & explain your concerns. Wishing you well..

Thanks for messaging, it always helps to hear from people who have had the same thing done. All the leaflets and doctors say is general stuff so I'm trying to be patient until my follow up in two weeks.. just seems so long away when it's something so worrying as your eyesight x

You don’t need to sit & worry. Phone the eye unit where you had the procedures & explain what is happening.
They may say, no worries wait until the follow up appointment. However they might say pop down & they’ll have a look.
I had to return as one of my eyes felt sore & gritty. It was ok but the dazzling clearness is better in the other eye.
Take care

I read all the post op info from the clinic (and Mr Google) but it took me weeks, nigh on 10 I’d say, to recover. I spoke to the clinic who advised the usual pain relief but little else.

The pain eventually went but I was troubled by bright lights and sunshine, grittiness and a feeling like my eye was as big as a gob-stopper. I was “unbalanced” due to one eye seeing differently from the other.

Im ok now, 7 months later, but unsure about having the other done.

Thanks for all your kind responses.

Wow I'm so sorry to hear you went through all that. Makes my experience seem not so bad. I'm still blurry and one eye is less bad than the other (both eyes done together) but no pain or discomfort really. I hope that if you do the second eye it is nothing like the first one for you!
