Bowel hernia and TTC

I had an ultrasound today due to abdominal discomfort I've been experiencing on and off for a few months (referral was sent off January)
They told me there and then I have a hernia on my bowel on the left hand side. Me and DH have been wanting a baby for a long while and postponed trying until we found out what this was (incase it was ovary related or something more sinister) I haven't had the full down low yet - will hopefully get that from my GP within the next week or so.
But, my question is, has anyone has a similar hernia and gotten pregnant knowing about it?
They said in the ultrasound appointment that they weren't overly concerned as it has a 'wide neck' and was popping back in when push easily - so low risk strangulation.
I know if surgery is suggested, I'll be waiting a long time for surgery, and I really don't want to ideally put of TTC until after as that could well be another year. I'm 31 this year and desperate to start a family... I'm aware my GP would be the best person to answer these questions and I will of course ask when we have our next consultation but just looking for anyone who may have had similar and got pregnant and was fine etc...
the hernia can cause me a little discomfort sometimes, oddly on the opposite side to where it is located - but otherwise, I'm fine and on my feet all day everyday.

Thank you x

Hey,
Bless you
I think wait until the full report is back from the MRI, depending on size/position/ risk etc they may or may not want to operate it might be fine as it is but if it's causing you pain and they offer a solution I'd be going with that.

In terms of ttc, 31 is still young don't worry about that!!

If they suggest operating I'd ask them how urgent it is and in the event you got pregnant how would it impact it?? If at all, ask about strangulation risks if there are any and what "the plan" is for you.

Pregnancy is tough enough without any additional aches and pains. When you get the result if they go straight back to your GP ask them to refer you to your local hospital General Surgery department so that someone who is a hernia expert can give a view on it.

I hope you get on ok and it's just a little niggle they can either sort out quickly or watch and wait with on a non-urgent basis.

Thank you for replying @justanotherdrama, I've been doing a little research online, and supposedly, after hernia repair they recommend not getting pregnant for 1-2 years to avoid reoccurrence. I'm really not willing to wait another 1-2 years before even being able to start TTC. I've been waiting such a long time to start a family and it's been pushed back for numerous reasons along the way. I will of course speak with my doctor to get more accurate info.. but it seems counterproductive to me to have it and then get pregnant after against the advice and it undo the surgery I've put myself through.
The pain does get me down, but it's something I'd be genuinely willing to struggle through if it meant having a baby sooner...

Have you had a hernia yourself? X

I'd definitely wait to get advice from doctor, but I had a small hernia in my belly button after my first pregnancy. Gp told me it would be better to finish having children before having the surgery. It didn't bother me at all in 2nd pregnancy and isn't there anymore at 7 months pp. don't think I'll need surgery at all in the end!
