Any pharmacists around? Alternative needed for Synalar-C cream

I have recurrent pompholyx, which no other cream seems to be anywhere as effective for. I contracted a staph infection in the blistered area a few weeks ago too, which has caused the mother of all flare ups.

The nurse at my surgery told me recently that the Synalar creams/gels had been discontinued, and prescribed hydrocortisone cream, which is barely touching it.

Does anyone know of any alternatives that are as good as Synalar, particularly Synalar-C? Thanks in advance!

Fucidin?
DS has had nasty skin infections and also used to get Synalar C, think he's also been given Fucidin at times.
Not sure where your infected area is but bleach baths were also helpful. Google "bleach baths for eczema".

steroid chart here shows which ones are similar to Synalar

@MrsVeryTired not wise to suggest an antibiotic cream when the OP was using a steroid.

Betamethasone/Clioquinol Ointment?

I’ve just checked and it’s available to order.

Should have said, I'm not a pharmacist. I assumed Synalar C was an antibiotic ointment as thats what my son had with infections but have googled and its a potent steroid, Ive had good results with betamethasone, agree hydrocortisone is very weak, doesn't touch my eczema.

Thank you everyone! @mycoffeecup that chart is really helpful, the nurse at my surgery didn't have a clue what to prescribe me, so I think she was playing it safe by giving me hydrocortisone, but it's been rubbish.

That chart isn’t from the uk, the names are different.

A better chart is this one https://gmmmg.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/GM-Steroid-Ladder.pdf

Thank you @Changingmynameyetagain, I'll definitely look into this. I did search Synalar hoping to find an online pharmacy with remaining stock, but I'm assuming because it's discontinued it's been pulled from the shelves entirely.

Thanks for the UK chart too! The eczema drives me insane, and the nurse was completely unhelpful - she actually asked me what I'D recommend as an alternative treatment!

@MrsVeryTired, you're not wrong - Synalar-C contains an antimicrobial too. I was absolutely desperate for the stuff when I developed the staph infection in the blisters!

Sorry to bump and old thread, op, but did you find one? My son’s eczema is awful right now and it was the only thing that worked for him
