Fungal skin infection

I’ve been dealing with a fungal skin infection behind my ears since last August. I’ve treated it but it keeps returning- even after using Daktacort for 5 weeks (as prescribed by GP). Then another 5 weeks, it comes back and so on.

It appears as dry skin then starts to weep and go red and sore. I am starting to think it will never go away! Hoping someone on here might have experienced (and resolved!) something similar.

Could it be psoriasis and not fungal at all ?

I had wondered the same. Would Daktacort clear up psoriasis too would you know?

Try nizoral shampoo.

Apply to wet hair and skin all around the area (the fungal spores aren't just where it is visible)

Leave on for 10 minutes then wash off. Repeat for 10 days then use twice weekly same procedure

Thank you I will give that a try!

Is it folliculitis? If so it’s really difficult to get rid of, u need to ensure u dry yr hair quickly and it doesn’t remain damp.
Nizoral shampoo should help but u may need tablets, creams and lotions as well. Get the gp to take a swab.

Dd2 uses Betnovate for the psoriasis on her scalp.

It’s actually in the ear crease (where ear attaches to head!) rather than hair or scalp which both seem fine. Both gp and pharmacist thought it was fungal so I’m wondering if maybe it is something else having gone on for so long now

I had a fungal skin infection on my foot that just would NOT shift. I ended up with Terbinafine tablets, and they cleared up properly, much to my relief.
