Dermatitis Hell - Help!

Looking for advice and your experiences. Background is that I’ve had a bit of seborrheic dermatitis around my nose and scalp for 15 or so years. Occasionally it would flare and get sore (usually when I was stressed) - I found that the Ketoconozole in athletes foot cream sorted my nose and nizoral my scalp. It wasn’t flaky day to day and required minimal treatment to get rid of the itch when it flared.

Fast forward to last summer when the condition went wild - intense itching, sore open skin along hairline, constant flaking on my scalp. It’s awful. I’ve tried the anti fungal / steroid cream (Daktarin), ketoconozole, nizoral, betacap, ginger shampoo, tea tree. The nizoral gives some relief but temporarily. Similarly with the betacap. Nothing works on my nose - I’ve taken to using a tiny amount of Betacap which is probably a disaster as it’s a potent steroid.

I should say there are two possible causes of the escalation in this condition - one is long term antibiotic use which I can’t do anything about and the second is increasing anxiety and stress - both of which I’m struggling immensely with.

I would love to hear your experiences - what has worked for you (medicine, UV light, diet, otherwise)? And some hope that there is something that can make this better. TIA

DD's boyfriend has it and the only thing that gave him any sort of longer term relief was light treatment. I'm not sure what he had but he said it was miraculous. They are now working abroad and he's got a bit of stress and it's come back but it gave him many months of clear skin. He can't wait to come back and have another round of treatment

@Fibonacci13 that’s really helpful, thank you. I am wondering about buying my own light with comb attachment - did he have it on his scalp? Thank you for your reply

Yes he gets it on his scalp, particularly around his hairline but also on his face really badly
