Hair loss

I’m hoping someone maybe able to help - although no horror stories, I can’t deal with that right now.
My daughter is 14 and back in November she started having hair shedding but nothing to worry about but the last week or so has been having a lot (and I mean a lot) of hair fall, especially when washing and then even more when brushing wet hair afterwards. Her hair is getting more matted than usual when washing and now her most recent hair wash there wasn’t as much in shower (although still more than normal) but it’s like the fallen hair was maybe getting matted together and all coming out when combing it through. We use a good conditioner and usually use a tangle teezer brush but have just switched back to a wide tooth comb to see if that makes any difference. Her hair is starting to feel quite thin and I’m starting to panic to be honest.
She had bloods done back in February and the doctor said they are all normal. They said this is just a normal thing in girls her age and to get her a good zinc supplement. She has already been taking zinc in her multivitamin for a while now so we have just upped the amount she is on.
I know there is nothing magical that can be done but I’m kinda hoping there is? Or if someone else has been through this and can tell me it’s normal and does stop.
She is healthy, eats well, drinks plenty. She is quite an anxious person but always has been so that’s nothing new.
Also, if anyone can tell me somewhere that do private blood tests for children/teens without needing to go through the GP then please let me know. I’d like a second opinion on them and get a more up to date blood test done because the doctor I spoke to last week is going off of bloods she had in February. We are in Kent.
I just want to help stop this before it gets worse.
Also, I thought of another thing. She was really poorly over Christmas (so was my husband and all my children) with some sort of flu - we didn’t test for Covid - they all literally had no energy and basically slept for a week. Now I originally thought this could be hair shedding from that because I know that can happen when you’ve been unwell and my other daughters (they are younger) are having a slight and it is very slight hair shed but my 14 year old is seriously shedding.
It also been suggested it could just be a 7 year hormone change thing.

Hi, I have just come across your post and wondered how is your daughter getting on? I have a 12 year old and the exact same thing is happening to her. We are waiting for a blood test but it seems to be getting worse day by day. She was also very ill over Christmas (salmonella and fever) but GP said that's probably not linked. GP just said it's a dry skin condition but hardly even looked at her. I'm hoping you got to the bottom of it and if you've found something that's helped, please do let me know. 🙂
