If you have ; how long did it take to go away? Did it just stop hurting or did you do something to cure it?

I've had it about 6 weeks now and I'm fed up. I'd appreciate any advice.

Thank you

I've been looking for a pair of trainers to wear in to take away for a city break and have settled on a New Balance collaboration with skater Jamie Foy.

The tongue is attached to the shoe with elastic quite high up so it's secure mid way, the toe box is roomy and the footbed is a sort of firm memory foam, with shaped heel cup and arch support. They also have quite a low ankle profile so no heel rub.I always knew skaters were on to something. I'm wearing them in at the minute and the PF is gone when they're on.

Ooooh! Been struggling to find stylish trainers with arch support. Googling those now...

@AnotherEmma I hear Hoff are also good but the NB were £50 cheaper and in a colour way I preferred.

Thank you @Tofumammy

when i first had PF a podiatrist did the taping thing and it was amazing. After that other podiatrists and myself tried, could not get it right. It's effective but a bit of a mystical art.

TheFormidableMrsC · 25/08/2023 18:53

I get it occasionally. I never walk around barefoot. Always Fitflop sliders. I use a hard spiky ball and roll my foot on it. Same with bottles of iced water. Stretches. Orthotics. My first attack lasted for months but suddenly disappeared overnight. Currently struggling with other foot. It's been over a month. It's bloody horrible. It impacts on my exercise too.

I have it now in my right leg. I'm definitely peri menopausal so wondered if all linked. I bought that foot massager too which is bulky but eases the pain. Seems fine when I walk then hurts when I stand up after sitting for ages.

I had issues with it for several years. A physio friend suggested vibram five finger shoes. I lived in them for about six months.

It's now been 9 years without flare-ups.

I had mine a couple of months. I got instant relief from wearing Fit Flops all summer, Crocs indoors and gel inserts for my walking boots.

Loopylooni · 10/06/2024 20:44

curious what people wear when they have PF as an alternative to trainers. I have so many dresses which would suit decent shoes

poppym12 · 10/06/2024 22:17

Mine only eased when I started wearing Birkenstocks whenever I'm not in bed. As my feet hit the floor, Birkenstocks go on. Not exactly stylish but I've worn them for years and I don't care about style when I know that they keep that awful pain at bay. In winter I've managed to avoid a recurrence by adding arch support insoles to my boots.

I'm looking for some decent non leather trainers to wear. I tried Skechers but they didn't work for me.

My PF eventually went away after about 8 weeks of continuous taping.
I've just been on holiday and it has returned but this time in the other foot.

I only wear crocs, fitflops or my walking boots with custom orthotics in.

I've started taping again but I'd forgotten how much of a hassle that is! But I'll stick it out.
