Pinprick rash not disappearing..

Evening all. I suffer from health anxiety so not sure if I'm panicking unnecessarily!

Just had a bath and noticed a small pinprick rash on my upper arm. Photo attached. Doesn't disappear when pressing a glass on it. Feel fine otherwise, no symptoms of anything. I'm 31 weeks pregnant in case that's relevant. I think it's gone down a bit since I first got out of the bath (second photo taken just now).

Should I be concerned do you think?

I get this on shoulder and inner forearm if I've been carrying a wide strap heavy bag - almost like a love bite. I've also had it on my neck historically when I've been aggravated by a washing powder and itched my neck too hard in my sleep and again broken the vessels causing little bruises

Is it itchy at all? To me it looks more like a skin thing than an illness thing if you know what I mean but I'm no health professional so if you are worried then no harm in getting it checked. However, is it sepsis/meningitis you are concerned about? Would you not be feeling poorly with those? Hope it all clears up soon!

Looks like where somethings rubbed or irritated your skin?

Maybe give your GP a call tomorrow to put your mind at rest

BelleSauvage9 · 05/04/2023 21:23

Thanks @Smogtopia that's reassuring 👍

Thanks @Newuser82 yeah basically! I think it's drilled into us that a pinprick rash that doesn't fade under a glass is a very concerning symptom 😬 but I absolutely would expect some other symptoms with sepsis/meningitis. But as I say, I have health anxiety so it can be hard to not panic with these things. But it also results in me often not seeking treatment/care because I explain it away as me just being anxious and not wanting to be a pest to the nhs.. (also no it's not itchy)

@BelleSauvage9 oh I totally know where you are coming from. I can get like that myself to be honest. I meant it as a good thing that if you aren't feeling ill then hopefully it's nothing to worry about but obviously if anything changes then seek medical advice. It's double the worry when you are pregnant too isn't it? X

BelleSauvage9 · 05/04/2023 21:25

Thanks @hellodarknessmyoldfriend22 I can't think of anything that would have irritated it. Not sure when it appeared either as I only saw my arm for the first time today while in the bath

@Newuser82 yeah definitely. And while googling (always a terrible idea!!) saw that apparently you're at greater risk of sepsis during pregnancy

My skin does that when something's irritated it.

BelleSauvage9 · 05/04/2023 21:28

Thanks @Mabelface it's possible somethings irritated it and I've just not noticed. I often get bruises and don't remember how I got them so I'm not the most aware of such things!

@BelleSauvage9 Google can often not be your friend! I'm just going off when my son was younger he was admitted to hospital by the out of hours doctors with suspected meningitis (he had already had this at birth), he had a rash, temperature and was poorly. When he was assessed at the hospital the doctor was lovely and said although he was obviously ill he was alert etc and kids with meningitis were quite obviously a lot sicker so have always remembered that.

BelleSauvage9 · 05/04/2023 21:35

Thanks @Newuser82 yeah I'd fully expect to have some other symptoms, or at least be feeling poorly. I find a lot of the information about meningitis is focused on children as well so you wonder whether it's the same for adults, or whether it can present a bit differently etc. but I feel reassured so thanks very much all 👍 for peace of mind I've asked dp to check on me in the morning before he leaves for work (small things to try to reduce the health anxiety).

I hope it's all gone by tomorrow!!

Are you anaemic? Anaemia can also cause these sort of rashes.
