Dentist says I am over brushing...

She showed me where my gum is red and explained that I am beginning to wear away my enamel.

She suggested putting a filling on the side of the tooth to protect it in case of overbrushing.
I am quite apprehensive about having any dental procedures done, as I don't want any recurring problems.

I asked her if the procedure would damage the tooth underneath, and she said no, as it just sits on top of the tooth.

During my Google research, I learned that dentists sometimes wear down the enamel to improve bonding with the dental covering.
Has anyone undergone any of the procedures mentioned above? I am quite nervous about it all.

Yes, I have several white fillings to cover over the worn enamel. No drilling. Takes less than 5 mins. Painless, except you can't eat/drink for a hour afterwards. NHS dentist.

Thank you so much.
I was feeling anxious that it would cause damage to my tooth in the long term.

I've had this. It's fine. I recommend buying the softest toothbrush you can find as well. It really helps. Surprisingly for me an electric toothbrush makes it worse.
