all 3 dd's have eczema.

dd1 has atopic, sebhorric and discoid.

dd2 has atopic and discoid

dd3 has atopic and discoid.

the puzzling thing is that discoid eczema is more comman in the elderly, so why do my girls have it? its also hard work getting rid of it. can anyone recommend anything else to try as the gp insists on giving 50/50 which isnt too great tbh. dd1 has aveeno, whicdh works well on her, and her seborric eczema is fine atm, as si the discoid. the other two discoid is terrible.

btw this isnt self-diagnosis, this is from the dermo at the hospital.

Have you tried looking at diet.. it's supposed to really help if you can identify what might be triggering it, if there is a trigger. Could be something really innocuous.

DS has seborheic {sp?) and atopic eczema. We are now looking into changing his diet. Hopefully we get to see the Dietician soon.

we tried dairy free with eldest dd1, didnt help her. she is allergic to food additives so try and avoid as much as possible and cook from scratch.

they al ldo have various allergies and older two have hayfever and asthma as well.

i think theirs could be envirmental rather than diet, and miust say i have slacked recently on the houseowrk, but am back into it, so hopefully will get it cleared up soon. our house is pretty allergy-friendly on the whole, just have slipped up as gettingh used to dh being home.

there are two types of 50/50. you get the type made up by the manufacturer which is fab when used with bandages and its really rehydrating and then some chemists make up their own (not usually so good or long lasting). i only found this out when i worked as a community nurse.

i dont there skin is as bad that they need wet-wrapping (had to wet-wrap dd1 when she was a baby), but i do think they may need a stronger steroid based antibiotic cream for a short period to get a catch on this discoid stuff and try and shift it.

betnovate is good but my consultant (i've had ezcema since i was a baby and its mixed too) has recomended nerisone as it has less long term side effects compared to betnovate and dermovate. its more greasy and takes longer to absorb but its effective. i presume you know all about the theory of moisturize before using steriods/hydrocortisone so skin is hydrated before the medication is applied.
