Pain and tightness in middle of chest whenever I eat or drink

Hi all
Over the last few weeks, and gradually getting worse, every single time I eat of drink, within a few minutes I have a lot of pain in the middle of my chest. On Sunday it sometimes radiates round my sides but the main pain is in the middle. The pain in my central chest feels really tight, as if someone is squeezing it. It generally eases off after a few hours and then starts again next time I eat. It even happens just drinking a glass of water

I don't appear to have any acid reflux and I'm not burpy.

I'm really scared I've got some awful cancer somewhere Sad

I’d get that checked out. It may well be nothing serious but equally it’s best to get medical help sooner rather than later if it does turn out to be something nasty

Sounds like heartburn to me

does it ease off if you take any heartburn medicine?

ParkrunPlodder · 04/04/2023 13:50

I didn’t have acid reflux signs but when I went for an endoscopy for pain in my stomach that was worse when my stomach was empty (which turned out to be bleeding stomach ulcers) I also had ulceration all down my oesophagus too.
personally I would get a GP appointment asap with the symptoms you describe. It’s likely to be your digestive system given it happens after you eat but the actual cause or severity of what’s going on can’t not be guessed at and needs medical investigation. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks everyone, I will start the process of trying to get a GP appointment 😳 If not, I'll book a private GP appointment

I'm in so much pain this evening. I spoke to my sister and both her and my mum have hiatus hernias. Sounds possible from my symptoms.
