Just had heart palpitations for a few minutes

I'm 24, had a clear ECG a year ago. Normal bloods in December.

I'm on Propranolol for anxiety and have been trying to lower the dose gradually because the full 40mg dose makes me groggy. My GP says it is safe to adjust dosage as needed. I took 10mg today, had 2 cups of coffee over several hours, was lying on the sofa reading when I suddenly felt my heart beating in my throat. Pulse was 130. Drank 2 large glasses of water and took the rest of my propranolol. Also ate a snack because I've not really had lunch today. It seems to be calming down now (pulse back to my normal 70bpm) but was quite frightening. Do I need to do anything or will it be safe to wait for a GP appointment next week?

Too much caffeine?

Not enough food?

Is heart rhythm normal?

I would keep a record of this and let the GP know.

This doesn't sound like an emergency, but I would discuss this and the dosage of propanolol with your GP sometime next week.

I don't have a stethoscope but I can feel my pulse and it seems regular.

I suspect it might be lack of food, dehydration or propranolol withdrawal but I will check with my GP.

Is it safe for me to go to sleep? I'm worried I'll have a heart attack in my sleep, as silly as that sounds.

My heart feels fine now.

Is this your second thread on this?

My GP sent me for an ECG due to high resting HR. He took my pulse twice in the surgery and it was 130bpm. I had my ECG yesterday (managed to get into cardiology on a cancellation). The nurse wouldn't tell me the result and my GP will not look at it until Tuesday. Am I safe to assume that if anything was seriously wrong on the ECG, I wouldn't have been discharged?
