Help before I go to the GP

I have a GP appointment in 3 weeks but in the meantime I’m wondering if anyone could assist with what they think may be wrong with me. I experience a range of symptoms which may or may not link…

  • health wise generally ok. Could exercise more and eat slightly better but I’m not overweight. On the pill which has never caused any problems before, to my knowledge.
  • sudden changes to my period. Really light, almost non existent.
  • carrying a lot of my weight round my stomach. Difficulty losing it from my stomach
  • excessive fatigue (but do also work long hours!)
  • quite snappy
  • dont feel genuinely ‘happy’. Obviously I have happy and funny moments, but don’t feel truly happy
  • Headaches/migraines frequently before the start of my period but occasionally in between

im only in my late 20s and I just don’t feel quite… right!

I forgot to say. Recent smear test came back fine

How long has this been going on for/when did changes start?

Any other symptoms?pain, bloating, bowel issues etc?

Any family history of health problems?

Good you have an app booked, really you need a thorough history taking/examination and go from there. Likely blood tests to rule things in/out but you are unlikely to get accurate answers from here, best to wait for your appointment hope you feel listened to x

Hi @SlB09
honestly, probably around a year. In addition to my smear test being normal, I also had a private blood test for an under active thyroid and the results were normal.

I’ve never really gone to the toilet regularly, perhaps every 3rd day. I am bloated.

Thanks! Me too. I worry that there is such a wide range of symptoms that they won’t know where to start

No family history of health problems. Thank you for replying

Don't worry, it's actually a really common scenario for a GP who should know where to start and investigate for you. Without (more) bloods though and perhaps other tests it may be difficult to pin point in one appointment x
