Temperature above 40 for over a week

I've been rushed to hospital twice via ambulance in the last week for a constant temperature over 40/41 that won't go down with paracetamol.
I'm unable to stand up, move properly and I haven't eaten in 4 days yet I'm downing water like there's no tomorrow. I had a chest x-ray, blood tests and monitoring yesterday and they couldn't find anything. The doctor refuses to do anything as they said because it's such a high temperature I needed urgent hospital assistance. Last night it was probably one of the worst nights, I'm quite certain I blanked out for a while as couldn't hear my 3 month old crying. I woke up and the bed was drenched with sweat and the nausea I was experiencing was worse than when I had HG with both of my pregnancies. The hospital gave me antibiotics, Co-amoxiclav as I have lymph nodes the size of golf balls and I can't swallow or move my neck at all anymore. I feel absolutely dreadful and haven't been able to look after my baby at all for the last few days so have had to call my nan in to take over until I'm better. Does anyone else have anything similar or could it be something like the flu as I felt I couldn't get much information out of the hospital. They were more concerned about my lymph nodes than my fever

I think you should go back to A&E.

RosesInWater · 01/04/2023 17:48

Probably need IV antibiotics. Back to A+E, no one should be suffering like that and I'm sure you are concerned about taking care of your child.

ThreeB · 01/04/2023 17:51

You need to be back in A&E. You say you have a 3 month old, could it be mastitis?

RandomMess · 01/04/2023 17:52

You're getting worse so need to go back.

CiaoBellisima · 01/04/2023 17:53

You need to go back to the hospital, right away.

timetorefresh · 01/04/2023 17:57

Sepsis? Tell them you think you have it. They shouldn't let you out until they've checked. I was thought to have it once, sent to A&E and my arse didn't even touch the seat in the waiting area. Turned out to be a bad case of pneumonia. I was totally out of it. Was off work for months

whyhere · 01/04/2023 18:33

Agree with others here. There is a lot of pneumonia around at present, and it is not to be messed with!

sparkle17 · 01/04/2023 18:35

Yes back to a&e. Like above advice ask about sepsis.
Good luck

Covidwoes · 01/04/2023 19:48

@Pumpling that sounds awful. Did they do a full blood panel? Ask for a CRP level. This is a measure inflammation, and is a good indicator of infection. I'd definitely go back.

Inkblue · 01/04/2023 20:36

I’d also go back to a&e. Can your nan look after your baby?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/04/2023 23:56

As you're getting worse you should seek help again. I've just had terrible flu, fever was 5 days straight, I was hallucinating at one point, just dire.

nannyl · 02/04/2023 21:11

How are you feeling now?

I hope you have had some medical help xx

Sexnotgender · 02/04/2023 21:15

Fucking hell, I hope you’ve gone to A&E. That’s not right, are you breastfeeding?

sparkle17 · 06/04/2023 18:36

How are you feeling now?

Pumpling · 14/04/2023 16:23

So sorry for the late update, I was X-rayed and had blood tests but no one could find what was wrong. Ended up being prescribed antibiotics and the temperature cleared up within 5 days, but it did get worse before it got better. They say it was an infection somewhere but they were so busy so weren't able to do a full blood panel. I had mastitis when baby was a week old, and it was horrendous but definitely not the cause this time I don't think. Thanks all 😊
