hi all, so my bilirubin levels are slightly elevated after a blood test the other day. i think all my other levels are fine (within range). is 24 anything to be concerned about? my doctor hasnt contacted me yet but i know she will due to an underactive thyroid. i have really horrible health anxiety and trying not to stress so looking for some reassurance :)

Hi, isn't there a note under the test result?

Hi, isn't there a note under the test result?

@coloursquare hi no theres nothing just that and a link to what bilirubin is / does. i still havent got a call so i doubt shes too concerned :) ive done some googling and there was a woman who had levels of 30 and their doctor wasnt concerned at all. hoping for the same xx

I consistently have bilirubin between 30 and 50, and my GP has never been concerned. I've googled, and suspect I have something called Gilbert's Syndrome, which is in itself benign so I'm not concerned.

@Allthegoodusernamesareused thank you for the reassurance! do you have any idea if all my other levels look fine? still no call from the doctor. theyve been marked as abnormal but im hoping my doc isnt concerned as yours isnt / wasnt :)

All your other levels look to be between normal limits, I'm not a doctor but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Cakeandslippers · 31/03/2023 14:30

I am not a doctor but I do have experience of deranged liver blood tests and these would not worry me at all. In fact I'd be delighted if mine looked like this. Try not to worry, if the GP is worried they will contact you - the fact they haven't suggests they are not worried at all.

@Cakeandslippers @Allthegoodusernamesareused thank you both so much!!! i contacted my gp and the doctors wants a telephone consultation to discuss my results (i have an underactive thyroid so that will most likely be the reason), on the 12th april so im guessing it wont be of a bad nature bcs she’d want to see my sooner and face to face surely

That's good. I hope they can reassure you.

Not sure if this is helpful or not but at my GP and local hospital, if you have results which look concerning they are hidden from view until the GP "releases" them (or if they don't its normally a month or so till they show up).

Hope the appointment goes well.

Just looks like a bit of Gilbert's to me, nothing to worry about.
