Trigger finger (Dupuytren's contracture)

I think its genetic as I remember my DM having the same thing. I have a bent little finger on both hands but the left is worse and is almost bent into the palm. I know I need to get it treated. Luckily we have private insurance if we need to go down that route if the NhS timing is very long. However I'm the only driver and we live in the country so no access to buses etc.

Has anyone had this and had surgery. Just wondered if you could give me a time line ie what happens after surgery, how soon would I be able to drive, wash my hair, just the usual run of the mill things. Would be really good to have some info from anyone.

My DF had this surgery 4 years ago, unfortunately I don't think it's available on the NHS anymore I seem to remember the surgeon telling my dad that he was one of the last to have it done so I would go ahead with private if I were you.

My DF was told not to drive for 2 weeks (although he was back behind the wheel after 10 days) The most difficult thing was keeping the wound dry until it had healed.

He had several follow up appointments for dressing changes and then a couple of physio appointments but was largely pain free after the first 48 hours.

Apparently Dupuytrens only affects people of Norse heritage! so your ancestors would have been Vikings!
