I'm 47, generally fit and well, but literally ready for sleeping constantly.
It's 6.30 Saturday evening and I'm in bed, tomorrow I'll spend in bed too, napping on and off all day, still able to sleep at night.
I have a stressful job in management, with a team of approx 60 to look after. Not sure if this is relevant, but I do work Monday/Friday 8-6.
Happily married (very patient easy going husband, and adult children, no real worries to speak of, but dear god, I'm in bed by 8 through the week, and sleep the entire weekend!
This can't be normal right?
I'm not anaemic, take HRT as had hysterectomy years ago, don't drink a lot, don't smoke, diet not great but not awful
Why on earth can't I stay awake?

Is it just tiredness or do you have any other symptoms?

Just always horrifically tired!
I think I sleep more than my cat
Not unwell at all

Thats hopefully a positive thing then. It would be worth discussing with your GP to check there's no underlying issues that are being missed. It does sound like you have a very full on job and your body is doing its thing and telling you it needs to rest to keep up

Thyroid issues, low B12, low vitamin D can all make you feel like this. Ferritin at the lower end of normal can also make you feel bone tired. Our labs range for ferritin is 20-300. There’s a huge difference between normal and optimal!

Thankyou
I have an appointment with the gp next week to review HRT, I'll mention it when there
I'm lucky that the kids don't need me for anything, I'm good for nothing every weekend, which feels like such a waste, but the thought of having to leave the house fills me with dread
Just no energy at all, it's almost like the part with the poppies in the wizard of oz where Dorothy just has to lie down
I've considered downing a few energy drinks to see if I get a boost, but ironically can't be arsed to even do that!

My sister was like this before she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Never had a day off sick, perfectly functional in her difficult job but fit for nothing else.

I'd ask your GP if they'd check your thyroid levels.
