Constantly illness

For context I’m 42, pretty fit and healthy, slim, go to the gym few times a week, don’t drink much these days, eat healthily (pescatarian, plenty of fresh fruit and veg every day, rare take aways, try to limit processed foods/sugar). I had my second daughter 16 months ago. Since going back to work on Sept I am constantly ill. I mean I have a couple of weeks of feeling well and then I’m struck with an awful cough/cold/chesty thing again. It must be once a month since sept. DDs are at school/small childminder setting so not constantly ill like other babies we know at larger nurseries. She’s had a couple of colds/viral things but bounces back fast. Mine linger and leave me feeling utterly shot. I had thyroiditis in January which has left my thyroid a bit all over the place, currently under active but under endocrinology for that.
I sleep well, take vitamin d, turmeric and postbiotic /immune supplement daily. My question is - am I missing some vital piece of the puzzle? What more could I be doing? I’ve had covid just the once to my knowledge (lost sense of taste in March 2020 before lockdown and testing though) so could this be the damage covid has done to my immune system? I used to be so healthy and rarely ill.

How many times have you been jabbed therein May lie your answer

vincettenoir · 19/03/2023 20:28

Sorry you’re having a crappy time of it atm. I don’t have any answers but in my house all 3 of us have been fighting bugs on and off for months. Last winter was even worse.

I hope you stay well over the coming weeks as the weather get better.

Thank you, me too. I feel like we have a week of health and three weeks of illness.

@Hellodollydaydream been jabbed 4x…

We are the exact same and was thinking of doing a similar post myself. Sat coughing and aching once again, it's been illness constantly since early October when we got covid ... so six months now. Every time I just say 'just get through this illness and you'll be alright next week', but then it's another thing!

It’s soooo frustrating isn’t it?

This has been me since start of December. I'm starting to feel really depressed about it tbh, its just one thing after another, always snotty, coughing, nose is in bits from constant blowing etc. I started a new job end of November and everyone is amazed by how unwell I have been back to back. Had 2 stomach bugs in that time too and DP spent yesterday throwing up so that's a third coming my way..we have a 2 year old who like yours bounces back much quicker whereas it takes me weeks to recover then it's the next thing.

Meat? I need to eat red meat a couple of times a week to keep up my iron levels, I also need a lot more vit D than recommended.

Mystic94 · 19/03/2023 22:28

I'm exactly the same recently. Since Christmas I've had something every week. Cold, stomach bug, sinusitis, ear infection, chest infection, tonsillitis, this week it was covid and now that's cleared my chests gone bad again.

Started a new job in January so all this time off sick really isn't good. I'm also taking vitamins, eat healthily and prior to these last few months I'm very rarely unwell. Maybe get a cold once a year and that's it. It's really wearing me down. Have you had blood tests? I had them last week and they were fine, so no further forward.

frangipani13 · 19/03/2023 22:41

@underneaththeash I’ve not eaten meat in over 20 years and have generally thrived without it so I don’t think it’s that. I’ve had so many bloods done lately for the thyroid thing everything else seems OK but perhaps I should do a medichecks thing to check for vit D (ferritin and HB are fine).
