1 Year old still not had a solid poo!

Basically the title says it all - DS (just turned 1) has yet to preform a solid number 2. He only "goes" once or twice a day, so is not suffering from dia-watsit!, it's just there is no real effort, and it usually leaks out everywhere. He is on three meals a day, and 3 bottles of milk (7 oz)- i am just beginning to wean him off formula. His weight is fine, and he is incredibly active, and generally smiley. I took him to the doctors a couple of months ago, when he was particularly sloppy, and they sent off a sample, which came back fine.
Any suggestions what i could do? Ironically when dd was a baby she spent most of her time constipated, which i now think was down to the formula she was on!

My dd2 didn't do a solid poo until I stopped giving her dairy. I hadn't realised it was a problem until she had ice cream and her bottom suddenly went uncontrollable.
I don't know how common this is. Just a thought.

DS's poos improved hugely when I restricted dairy (some days he was going through 4 pints of milk in 24 hours )

The baby i look after doesn't ever have a solid poo, 16 months old, and he is Dairy FREE! ( Gross poos, vom emoticon!)

DS is 18 months and still has pretty runny poo. He's still breastfed a couple of times a day and eats lots of fruit, so maybe it's that.

He did have a brief flirtation with proper poo shortly after starting weaning, much easier nappies to deal with! I really hope he grows out of it soon as it's pretty revolting sometimes

could still be constipation - constipation with overflow is incredibly common in children, where impacted poo builds up and watery poo leaks round it. get referred to paediatrician.

If the poo leaks, try using a smaller size nappy. We find that Asda's own-brand nappies are best at containing ds2's poos.

As to the texture... Ds1's poos were like small-scale adult poos. We used to pick them up with toilet paper and flush them downthe loo. I didn'tunderstand why other parents didn't do the same thing, until we had dd. Her poos were squidgy paste that went in everywhere, IYSWIM. I don't believe she ever did a 'log'. I was very glad when she finally toilet-trained! But they rarely leaked. Ds2's poos vary between squidgy paste and almost liquid, depending on his diet I think. Definitely worse, more liquidy and stinky, the more dairy he has. He leaks very often, particularly if there's any delay in changing him.

You could try giving him more bananas and white rice, that might firm up the poos. But is there any real need to?

My ds (2.3) developed a milk/dairy intolerence around 9 months ago and does runny poo if I even get a tiny bit lax with it. Then it takes a week of complete elimination to get back to solid poops again.

Or it could be toddler diarrhoea
